Biking Blitz
« on: 17, January, 2017, 06:50:08 PM »
Anyone planning on doing the blitz this year?

I did a lap of Ballinastoe the other day having not been there since the trail renovations and really enjoyed it so I've decided to do that round anyway.

I'll be there. I did a lap the other day, the loop is super fast now and non technical. It's a great opportunity for people to do their first XC race.

I'm in two minds about it. I don't want to be a sand-bagging bastard doing baggy shorts, but I'm not sure I have the fitness or the inclination to do 28k.

Nigel loves calling me a banger so I can't give him any more ammo. He's been jealous ever since he entered baggy shorts last year and got beaten by a hape of goobers http://www.bikingblitz.ie/images/results/wicklowblitz2016.pdf

In Balinastoe it's one lap of the Coilte loop for Baggy Shorts and 2 laps for Super Pros.

Thanks! It's been a long time since I did the whole loop start to finish. They took half the challenge out of it by smoothing the whole thing.

if your going for the 1 lap the start is so important or youll be stuck in traffic for the whole thing , alot of roadies do these and are very fast on the climbs but once they hit single track slow right down .

Considering doing this too this weekend..

Was up there over the weekend, some of the downhills are getting loose and rutty - and not much passing opportunities! Plenty of "RIDER" being yelled i'm sure  ;D ;D
