Advice please on how much my bike is worth
« on: 01, November, 2020, 05:33:56 PM »

Hi Folks Im looking for some advise. I have a Cube hardtail which is mint condition. It was never used off road and to be honest I'd say I have only cycled it at most 40km. There is no marks on it and its as new as the day I bought it. Could ye give me an idea of what its worth as I want to sell it and purchase a commute bike. It will be sold along with the original tyres - Front Tire Schwalbe Nobby Nic Performance 2.25, Rear Tire Schwalbe Racing Ralph Performance 2.25.
Much appreciate your help in advance.

Probably not worth a lot as standards have moved on a lot in almost 11 years. I'd say

a) stick it up on adverts.ie looking for 500 with no lower limits and see what offers you get.

Or

b) stick it up on donedeal.ie and look for a swap for a commuter bike.

or

c) put a set of 26" road tyres on it and use it as a commuter bike

You're gonna get hit hard by obsolescence no matter how decent you kept the bike. 2010 model, 26" wheels, 3 x 9 gearing and being a hardtail will all work against you.
I'd forget about trying to sell it to a mountain biker. Maybe someone who's looking for a rugged commute bike might go for it. I'm thinking 200-250euro at a guess

First lockdown was the time to be selling a bike like this. People were paying a few hundred quid for anything in decent nick.

If I was being a tight arse on this I'd remove the rebas and sell. Decent spec, straight steerer, 26" forks in good nick are like rocking horse pooh, ebay will give you the biggest market.

Then get a rigid disc fork and fit 700c wheels (i19 or open pro rims to a deore disc hub, or probably an off the shelf which is cheaper) running 28c tyres at 65psi.

Proper, faster commuter at almost no cost.
