Raceface crank arm compatibility
« on: 10, September, 2019, 10:54:33 AM »
My raceface aeffect crank pedal thréad is wrecked. I was looking online for replacement arm but it seems I need to buy a whole crankset, which are pretty saucy.

Does anyone know if there are other crank arms that I can get that will fit this, or has anyone done the thread repair insert thingy. Rang a few shops and they all said that they don't do it.

It's the drive side crank arm if that makes difference

So the thread was gone. Be surprised if someone doesn't have one spare from other side being damaged.

Try the likes of SuperStore in Tallaght and Expert to see if they have a second hand one lying around the workshop maybe.

I think cranks come in different lengths too though so check what length yours is.

It's 170mm anyway. Good idea for ringing shops for spares. I'll give it a go this afternoon

Did you try bike rack for the thread repair?

Just rang them there and they do it for €25. Absolutely delighted with that

Are they putting in a helicoil insert? I have a crank arm lying around at home with the same issue and wouldn't mind getting it repaired for a spare.

Just out of the shop now. They couldnt do the helicoil on my crank because of the way the wear was on the hole, not sure if yours would be any different.

They had a full new crankset for €100 though there so it worked out ok
