Hey,
The EPIC club league is BACK. Yay!
Sign up here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeuQTsEeoi0rZsFWkSEIN4G_vLtn7ll2C7EFKR14VfQ3d9aag/viewform (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeuQTsEeoi0rZsFWkSEIN4G_vLtn7ll2C7EFKR14VfQ3d9aag/viewform)
There have been some changes. A shiny new race permit from Coillte means that the club league is now officially official. There will be race plates. To take part, you must pre-register and bring along your race plate every week. The race plate helps with lap timings as well. No plate, no race. Also, all racers must have a (limited comp) CI licence. See, totally official. Maybe we'll all have to wear formal wear, too. No confirmation on that as yet.
If you're new to biking, the EPIC club league is a veritable institution during the summer months. And a ball of fun. Do it, you wont regret it. Well, you probably will. But afterwards, you'll be glad you did it. Type 2 fun! And lots of laughs. There's often post-race fizzy lemonades to be had in the Golden Ball after.
See you at the start line! :)

Thanks for posting Claire!
The EPIC forum post doesn’t actually give details re: what days or where or for how long it runs though. I don’t expect you to know all of that- but I presume it’s the XC race around the Leadmines? Is it the same route every week? Also any idea what night?
-
Hey Sorcha,
Apologies, I assumed they'd have all that info there. In my new role as Advertising Exec (thanks Nidge!), allow me to answer your questions.
It's every Thursday night at 6:40pm out in the Leadmines. It's a handicapped race and is the same route every week. It starts on April 18th and seems to run forever. Maybe two months or more? You don't have to go every week. If you reckon you might just do one or two races, sign up anyway.
I'm not entirely sure of the course as I think it has changed since I last did it, back in the mists of time, but sure come along with me on the first week and we'll figure it out as we go along.

Ha ha! Thanks for upping your game as nominated advertising executive! I appreciate that.
Thursdays are out for me so I am not in. On the flip side, the boulder will get a break from me falling on it so ;) Look forward to hearing about it from you. Thanks!

Hot off the press:
It's 16 weeks of XC pain and suffering (read: fun!)
It's three laps of the course and should take people about 40 minutes. Those might be fast people. I'd say it'll take me longer.
Defo sign up, it'll be great craic!

IMBRC run an XC league on Tuesday nights up in Slade, if that aligns with your schedule any better? It's equally fun. It kicks off with a Hellfire Club climb on April 9th. Think they use that for seeding purposes and it gives you a few extra points for the league.
-
Thanks Claire! Will possibly do those instead 🙏

Hey Claire. Where is the info/sign up page for the IMBRC league? Looking to do this year's.

Sign on isn't open yet. Should be this weekend, I hear. Will post up a thread as soon as it's good to go.

from the IMBRC Club League facebook page:
We have had a few riders asking about the club league.
The Hellfire Hill climb prologue is on Tue 9th April. This is pretty much an off road time trial with bonus points towards the league.
Rd1 of the club starts on Tue 16th April in Slade. Sign-on for both will open hopefully by next weekend. There will be a small fee as previous years for the league but none for the Hill climb.
There are a few people who didn't return timing chips last year and didn't respond to our emails. Can you get in touch or we'll have to request a charge for missing chip? Also this may lead us down the road of looking for a timing chip deposit which we don't want to have to do as it would add to the admin overhead.
Regards
IMBRC

Limited comp license... I'll have to upgrade so.
Epic lap for chunky me is just under 13 mins.

Curses - was there a mail?

It's on Facebook, on the Epic MTB page. They give the start times and results there.
