New drivetrain - which bottom bracket?
« on: 14, February, 2019, 05:34:21 PM »
Banjaxed my drivetrain and need to replace the whole thing. Currently running SRAM GX 1x11 but it works out about the same price to buy the newer Eagle NX 1x12 system. If I upgrade I'm pretty sure I'll need to replace the bottom bracket from one of these GXP ones to this SRAM DUB one.

That sound about right? Anyone got BB tools that fit both?  :o

Hey James, I think the GX groupset runs a different driver body to the NX groupset.
Might be worth checking too.

if you're changing from 11 by to 12 by you will need many new parts like derailleur, shifters etc. Also NX groupset is very heavy and could be a factor as well. Just food for thought

If it were me I'd probably stick with a mid range 1x11 set over a bottom range 1x12. But sure lookit

Thanks Dave, checked that out and it fits the old GX system, no new freehub required.

Probably a good point, I'm just looking at that shiny eagle thinking it will quench my thirst for a complete new bike!!

NX Eagle cassette is seriously heavy.

Thanks for the heads up Dave.

I gave in and just handed her in to Expert Cycles on Saturday, fingers crossed I'll have her back ready for a night spin Thursday!
